Creative Lulls and Commercial Work

Hi! It’s been a while.

Life has gotten ahold of the reins again and this sector of my business has been severely neglected. Instead of taking you on a virtual tour of Copper Harbor, I wanted to write about other real life things.

What started as a small, creative lull has turned into a pretty long and drawn out ordeal. I have had absolutely no motivation creatively to get out and shoot. This summer has been the busiest few months ever for me and up until this point, I have not felt like I have been able to take a step back and breathe. I think it was so run and gun for so long that I did not realize the emotions and passion for photography was starting to slip.

Since my trip to Montana, I have started to find myself spending many days in a row without touching my camera ( not a typical thing for me!) and I have had less and less drive to go out and shoot. I don’t think I recognized that at first, so I am glad I caught that before it brought me further down. Beside that little ted talk, I also wanted to share what I have been up to lately and some of the super cool projects I have been able to work on. I often don’t share my commercial work on Instagram, so I wanted to take the time to share some of those here!

Commercial photography brought a new love of the art to me. When I started taking photo back in 2018, I had zero intention’s of this becoming my career. Fast forward to today and I wouldn’t choose to do anything else, even if I have to deal with burnout and recalibrate my outlook and focus every once in a while. Getting to work with amazing people at some pretty awesome businesses has been so much fun! I am going to share with you a pretty wide array of recent work.

Let’s dive in!

Noah’s Ark Charters

Noah approached me in October 2022 about coming out on the lake with them at some point in the summer of 2023 to create a commercial for their brand, Noahs Ark Charters! This one was a lot of fun. Head over to their website to view the full video, linked below.

Keweenaw Coffee Works

I have had the privilege of working with Nate and Val & the team at KCW since October of 2022. It has been a blast partnering with KCW to create all of their content for social media use, as well as images for marketing and email campaigns.

North Shore Host Co

I approached the owners of North Shore Host Co, Sam and Rose this spring about traveling to Duluth to work with them, creating content for their vacation rental property management company. The glove fit and we now have been able to work together on multiple occasions!

The Vault Hotel + Counting Room

I have had the honor of creating content for The Vault on a few occasions! These images are just a few from a recent shoot with the team over at The Vault.

Kuusi Modern Mercantile

Lisa, the owner of Kuusi opened up her shop this summer - while in town grabbing a coffee, she asked the barista if they knew any photographers from the area. I was the lucky photographer that the barista knew! I really enjoyed working with Lisa to create some images to visually identify her brand and storefront.

Mohawk Technology

Mohawk Technology is based in Mohawk, Michigan. These are a series of photographs commissioned by their marketing team

Shooting commercial projects is so much fun. It opened up a whole new realm of creativity for me and allowed me to build relationships with some of the coolest people. These are just a handful of this summer’s projects and I plan on sharing posts like these every 3-4 months.

If you took the time to look through and read to the end, thank you. I genuinely appreciate it and I hope to see you back here in a few weeks!
