Featured Project: Blundstone USA

since the beginning of my career as a full time photographer, working with blundstone has been on my business’ bucket list.

they are an Australian based company with a heavy presence here in the United States, most known for their incredibly comfortable and durable leather boots.

this fall we partnered up on a film photo project, using fresh coast cabins (@freshcoastcabins) as a beautiful backdrop. this is one of my favorite partnerships to date!

shooting a project like this is already such a cool thing. being able to do so by producing the images with a film camera made it extra special.

this was the first partnership I forged that was set up to be a film shoot, with the use of digital cameras included but only if necessary. for this specific shoot, I opted to use the Kodak film stock called portra 400, my go-to film stock.

the vibe we were going for was Lake Superior cabin/chilly fall weather. Lynn, owner of fresh coast cabins was gracious enough to host us for an afternoon on a rainy October Friday.

film photography is fun because it is an old art form, the original form of making photographs. it got to a point in the early 2000’s where it seemed that it was going to die off at the hand of the new digital age.

with that being said, film photography has come back in and seems to be more and more common. in a fast paced digital world, some photographers crave the slowed - down analog cameras. I would consider myself one of those.
